The Shepherds
These are three truths. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:2-4. "Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away."Three biblical truths about the shepherd in this passage: 1. Truth number one: God has established in his providence ordinary men to whom he has entrusted the privilege of caring for and feeding his flock those of his children whom he has saved by his grace. 2. Truth number two: No pastor should serve with wrong motivations. Among what God demands is that pastors not serve as exercising lordship or taking advantage of the flock. God does not expect or approve of pastors who pastor solely for financial gain. That is an abomination to the Lord. 3. Truth number three. God will one day reward the shepherds. Although being a shepherd is his privilege, it is also a great responsibility, because he will not only bring reward, but judgment against those who did not act righteously.
