Bill Burr rants about relationship advice, sports and the Illuminati.
Monday Morning Podcast host Bill Burr has been a podcaster since before it was cool. The comedian started this show way back in 2007. That's before he'd released his first standup special, 2008's Why Do I Do This? By then, he'd gained notoriety for his appearances on Chappelle's Show. But he hadn't yet become a movie actor or Netflix comedy star.
It's true that podcasts were starting to get big by the time Monday Morning Podcast debuted. But not so big that anybody and everybody, famous or not, had to have one. So it's significant that Burr thought to use the platform of podcasting so early in his career. Substance-wise, the comedian is the first to admit that he doesn't use the show to do much innovating. For him, Monday mornings (and Thursday afternoons) in front of the mic are his chance to unleash his four Rs. That stands for ranting, raving, rambling, and raging.
Indeed, nearly every episode description of Monday Morning Podcast begins with the same three words: "Bill rambles about...". The ramblings can talk about current goings-on in the country or the world. He might discuss his love for music. Burr is a fan of hard rock and heavy metal like AC/DC and Slayer. The ramblings may be about his passion for sports. Burr is a Massachusetts native and a big New England Patriots fan. Or he might be raging about political correctness. Sometimes Burr talks to guests as well as rambling. Tom Papa, Rachel Feinstein, and Nick Kroll have all appeared.
Whatever pops into Burr's brain, before or during recording, is what makes it into the show. But whatever comes out of his mouth, it's going to showcase his trademark comedic style. He is a self-deprecating funnyman. So he calls that style "uninformed logic." And the legion of podcast listeners he's accumulated since 2007 would have it no other way.
Each Monday Morning Podcast episode is at least an hour long. But sometimes episodes can last longer than three hours. All episodes contain plenty of laughs. Anyone looking for a good laugh is likely to enjoy this show.
