Today in conversation with senior #investigativejournalist Jaideep Hardikar who has dedicated his work towards #agrarianissues of India. Jaideep Hardikar is Special Correspondent for central India for The #Telegraph, the largest circulated English-language daily in Eastern India, headquartered in Kolkata (Calcutta). He is based in Nagpur, India, and  covers multiple states. His primary interests are rural and agrarian issues, particularly the #politics of #food, #watercrises and conflicts over natural resources. He has won several fellowships and awards, including the #SanskritiAward for young journalists and Prem Bhatia Award for social and development #reporting. For more than a decade, Hardikar has reported extensively from #Vidarbha on #farmersuicides and the cotton crisis. His book, “A Village Awaits Doomsday,” was published in 2013. He has released a second book dedicated to the subject of plight of #farmers in India, "Ramarao" is available on Amazon and major bookstores via #HarperCollins.

In Ramrao, rural journalist Jaideep Hardikar attempts to put a face to India’s #unending farm crisis with the story of Ramrao Panchleniwar. He takes the reader on a journey of the everyday life of an Indian farmer, his daily struggles, his desperation to come out of his situation, his inability and many failings, the quagmire of issues he faces, and how he comes to a pass where he chooses to put an end to it all.
