Our Editor's Take

Life Will Be the Death of Me with Chelsea Handler is a fun and funny podcast from Chelsea Handler. Actress, comedian, and writer Handler shares fast-moving conversations and witty dialogue. Every episode includes humor, profanity, and survival tips. Cohost and producer Catherine Law begins each episode. Then, the guests join. Episodes are casual and free-associative as the hosts reach for creative solutions.

Podcast episodes start with one-on-ones between the two cohosts. Together, they examine day-to-day living. They chat about weekly news. Audiences hear unique and personal perspectives from Handler and the guests. She shares her latest insights, family issues, friend problems, and self-discoveries. Guests usually join the show a few minutes into each episode. They include athletes, journalists, celebrities, authors, and others excited to share experiences.

Life Will Be the Death of Me episodes are about personal growth, reflection, relationships, or mental health. On the podcast, Handler talks about her past. The guests explore their own insight on similar challenges they've overcome.

Handler's sense of humor and vulnerability mix for an approachable show. In one episode she interviews World Cup and Olympic champion ski racer Lindsey Vonn. Their conversation explores the challenges of being an athlete. They also touch on business-related issues and physical and mental health. The topic later shifts to strength from vulnerability in light of Vonn's mom's death. Her mother was a woman with physical challenges. But she overcame hardships in front of her daughter. Vonn suffered a number of injuries during her speed-racing career. She says she learned much from that. Both Handler and Vonn explore how they seem to bond more with their mothers since the loss. Delicate interviews like that one still bring back humor. They also keep listeners coming back for more.

In other episodes, Handler chats with author Glennon Doyle and TV personality Heather Gay. She also welcomes the actors Amy Schumer and Oliver Hudson. Gabrielle Union discusses her longtime marriage to former NBA star Dwyane Wade.

Life Will Be the Death of Me with Chelsea Handler episodes run about an hour in length. The podcast started in May 2019.
