Shana and Leah's worlds were completely upended in 2020 when their beloved Mom suffered from the excruciating and fatal effects of metastatic breast cancer. Sadly, due to the pandemic, neither were able to be with her physically while she lay in hospital.
Now, nearly a year and a half later, their small, close-knit family continues to navigate the terrain of their loss along with the challenges of the pandemic. As countless other families, this pandemic has led to a cascade of secondary losses, and the loss of in-person connection.
Shana's take-away: Loss during a pandemic means having to endure grief in a new way; perhaps along, grieving separately, and experiencing secondary losses at the same time. Find the resources that are available to you at that time.
Leah's take-away: Find therapy and the resources that you need to be lifted. Find the funny every day, stay connected and give yourself grace.
