Our Editor's Take

Order of Man is a podcast about the concept of masculinity. Over the last several years, the question of "What does it mean to be a man?" has been seriously reassessed in many parts of the world. This podcast seeks to answer that question by interviewing prominent men from various fields.

The host and creator of Order of Man is Ryan Michler. He's an Iraq War veteran, author, and content creator. Michler founded the group Order of Man as a support network for men across the globe, especially fathers. This formation was, in large part, because Michler himself did not have a father figure in his life. Upon having sons of his own, he found himself wanting to be the father for them that he never had.

Order of Man sees Michler interviewing prominent men from several different occupations. Well-known creators such as Jocko Willink and Nate Feathers are guests on the podcast. However, they come from wildly different backgrounds. Willink is a former Navy SEAL, while Feathers is a business professional.

This kind of diversity of thought is one of the things that makes Order of Man interesting. It is not setting out to find one concrete, inflexible idea of masculinity. It is more focused on assembling a code, or series of principles, that men can find useful in their lives.

Michler is a compelling and relatable host. He asks insightful questions and then allows his subjects to answer them in a way that feels natural. Furthermore, one never gets the impression that Michler is "putting on" for the podcast in any way. The fact that he is genuine helps to make the show a compelling listen.

Order of Man releases new episodes three times a week. These episodes premiere on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

BRANDON MANCINE | Get Strong and Do Stuff
With the brand-new year, I figured it would be a good idea to talk with an expert on the topic of health and fitness. For almost 10 years, I’ve suggested that if a man is just getting on (or back on) the path of self-development, the gym is the best place to start. There are a lot of reason for this but I think my guest, Brandon Mancine would agree. Today, Brandon and I talk about three types of fitness goals every man should implement (all three have merit), why a broken past does not define you, weight-lifting benchmarks all men should hit (or be working towards), the importance of intelligent lifting – especially as we get older, getting over “ego lifting,” and why now is the perfect time to get strong. Dan Hollaway | How to Become a Better Citizen
It seems to me that we’re, collectively, waking up from a decades-long slumber as Americans. Maybe it’s that we can’t stand to see the direction of the country or, perhaps, it’s a pure level of disdain and animosity towards our elected officials. Either way, it’s good to see us getting more interested and involved than we have the in the past. My guest today, host of the Citizen Podcast and The Drinkin’ Bros Podcast, Dan Hollaway joins me to talk about not only our rights as citizens but our obligations and responsibilities. We talk about what it means to be a good citizen, why we seem to get the worst of our people in politics, how to change the tide of American politics and culture through “State Nullification,” why there are no rights without associated responsibilities, and the power of and ways men can get involved. NICK BRYANT | How Political Blackmail Exacerbates Sex Scandals
We are without a shortage of sex scandals from Jeffrey Epstein to P. Diddy and, now implicated Jay-Z. But sex scandals from the highest echelons of entertainment, social elites, and political juggernauts are nothing new. In fact, Alexander Hamilton was once outed for having an affair with a married woman and Thomas Jefferson was proven to have been sleeping with his slave. Unfortunately, the trend continues with seemingly increasing high profile cases against these villains and their sexual improprieties. Today, I’m joined by investigative journalist, Nick Bryant to talk about his decades-long work against child sex-trafficking. Today, Nick and I talk about the similarities between Epstein and Diddy, why and how these blackmailing strategies turn into political weapons and assets, why these pedophiles get caught when they do, and what a man can do to protect his loved ones and serve a greater calling to destroy these rats. JOSH SMITH | Breaking Foreign Supply Chains Through American-Made

JOSH SMITH | Breaking Foreign Supply Chains Through American-Made
It’s no secret that, during COVID, we began to see how bad the foreign supply chain crisis was. That woke a lot of people up to the reality of importing cheap products from overseas, adversarial countries. But we’ve spent the last century closing American manufacturing facilities and exporting our American jobs overseas. With new potential tariffs (which I believe are more of an economic bargaining tool to Trump), we again are starring down the barrel of high prices for everyday goods. That’s part of the reason, I love what Josh Smith, Founder of Montana Knife Company is doing in a small town called Frenchtown in Montana. He’s putting Americans to work building American products – specifically, hunting, tactical, and culinary knives. Today we talk about the challenges with starting American-Made companies, what you’re likely to hear from competitors when you do, why growth isn’t always so linear and there are no overnight successes, why foreign markets are unfair business partnerships, and learning to build a business from the ground up – literally. SHOW HIGHLIGHTS: (00:00) Building Relationships and Hunting Stories (11:08) Knife Making and Hunting Stories (15:37) Special Forces Knife Design Inspiration (21:43) Examining Veteran Stories and Critique (27:48) Balancing Public Image and Personal Life (35:50) Knife Making Ethics and Production (45:58) American Manufacturing, Tariffs, and Government Spending (59:17) Building American Manufacturing and Relationships Battle Planners: Pick yours up today!
