CAGEMATCH, (Unlucky) Episode 13: DEADFALL is Fun Time Family Fun… Apparently
As always, this is the podcast that asks the hard-hitting questions like, “What the fuck is wrong with Justin’s mic” or “Why the hell is this even a movie” or “Why does Merder hate us and herself”… and the most important questions of all… Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius? An utter piece of silver screen trash? Or somewhere in between? After having a few real bangers, Merder was tired of letting the others pick the movies because she was getting dangerously close to actually liking Nic. Enter 1993’s Deadfall, a true shit show. Resting alongside Trapped in Paradise, this one was absolute dreck. The crew genuinely hopes they are more entertaining than this film. For a good synopsis of the film, you can just listen to Snot’s “Deadfall”, which is played at the end of the episode. It’s way better than the movie, for sure. And you can watch Merder and Loki be badass derby girls on Friday night on the Rockstar Roller Derby Twitch. Live tickets are sold out, but Justin will be announcing it all live on Twitch. SPECIAL THANKS to The O’Mulligans for allowing us to use their fantastic track “Cage Rage” as our official theme song! Listen to “Cage Rage” on Bandcamp and support the band! Done in 60 Seconds by The O'Mulligans Follow us on Instagram at @cagematchpodcast to be a part of the show. We’ll be posting more over there now and will have more opportunities for giveaways and other fun stuff over there, too! You can check out Loki, Merder, Justin, and The Farsighted over there too. The Farsighted is also on Xitter (pronounced “shitter”) and Facebook too, so join the discussion.

CAGEMATCH, Episode 12: Brookie is Pretty KICK-ASS
Episode 2 with a full team. Broken ankles, technical difficulties, and Justin being lazy (not really but he’s easy to blame) pushed back the release a couple weeks, but ALAS… we’re still on pace for a monthly episode, though we’re pushing to the third week of the month moving forward instead of the first… whoops… but we’re here, we promise! But it’s time for the important questions… Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius? An utter piece of silver screen trash? Or somewhere in between? On this month’s episode, Justin’s wife, and the illicit love of both Loki and Merder, joins to discuss her favorite Cage jawn, Kick-Ass! Spoiler alert, Merder HATES… how much she loves Nic in this one! If you’re watchign along, next month we’re watching 1993’s Deadfall, one of the the couple 0% Rotten Tomatoes films that Nic happens to star in, so maybe Merder will get to truly hate on him again next month, we shall see! And the contest we promised last month officially drops right here in the show notes (instead of on Instagram)… It’s easy as 1-2-3… Follow us on Instagram Let us know your favorite episode of the show and your favorite Cage film in the comments for this episode Winner of the Willy’s Wonderland 4K/Blu-ray from Scream! Factory will be announced on the next episode, which we’re recording the week after next… so get your entry in 11:59 PM EST on Monday, April 8th! CAGEMATCH, Episode 9: Nic and Raven Coloring Out of Space

CAGEMATCH, Episode 9: Nic and Raven Coloring Out of Space
We’re back… and as per usual, we’re woefully and wonderfully inconsistent. That’s kinda our thing… Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius? An utter piece of silver screen trash? Or somewhere in between? This was our “spooky season” episode, even if it is out a week or so after Halloween… so we decided to cover a horror film. Who better to tackle the spooy than our good friend Raven? On this episode, we ramble about the douchebaggery of Lovecraft and Richard Stanley, bring back the Cage-O-Meter (no matter how we decide that’s supposed to be pronounced), and ramble some more. Arriving at a 3ish on the Cage-O-Meter, we didn’t hate this movie but couldn’t stay in love with it… as Justin noted, you just can’t get away from the Richard Stanley of it all. But alas, we had fun and we hope you enjoy listening and hanging out with us! SPECIAL THANKS to The O’Mulligans for allowing us to use their fantastic track “Cage Rage” as our new official theme song! Listen to “Cage Rage” on Bandcamp and support the band! Done in 60 Seconds by The O'Mulligans Follow us on Instagram at @cagematchpodcast to be a part of the show. We’ll have polls for next month’s CAGE-O-METER rating, future giveaways, and much more. You can check out Merder, Justin, and The Farsighted over there too. The Farsighted is also on Twitter and Facebook too, so join the discussion. We’ll see you next month with a our poll winner – Arrmy of One – starring Russell Fucking Brand as God! Merder is really going to hate it and Justin can’t wait! And a quick shoutout to NINGEN ISU, who’s Lovecraft themed track called “The Colour Out of Space” closes the pod.

CAGEMATCH, Episode 8: Nicky Hunts for Some NATIONAL TREASURE
We’re back, maybe not a month from last time, but at least it wasn’t a full 2 months… or was it… we’re bad at telling time… but on to the important questions… Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius? An utter piece of silver screen trash? Or somewhere in between? This month, we decided to do Summer-y… so Merder chose the modern “classic” National Treasure. Lots of folks swear that this one is a pivotal movie from their youth, but neither she nor Justin had seen it before. Is the movie any good? Are Justin and Merder going to repeatedly confuse the Constitution and Declaration of Independence as they discuss the document that’s central to this film? How’s Nic in it? All of these questions and more, packed into a tight little podcast for your listening pleasure! We’ll see you next month with a movie of YOUR CHOICE. Voting is now closed but stay tuned to see what won!

CAGEMATCH, Episode 5: TRAPPED is Certainly an Appropriate Word
Two! Count em! Two months in a row with a timely episode! But… also two months in a row where Merder and Justin agree that the movie was not good… but how was Nic? That is the question! Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius? An utter piece of silver screen trash? Or somewhere in between? Like the film or not, Trapped in Paradise was at least much more fun to discuss for the Cagematchers this month and it lead to Justin picking one he knows at least HE loves for next month in David Lynch’s Wild at Heart… even if this month’s film had him so frazzled he referred to Laura Dern as Helen Hunt. We hope you enjoy this holiday special (or holiday not-so-special, as it were)… even if you don’t enjoy the movie, or even Nic Cage! Saint Nicolas by CAGE Grind Noir And as a bonus, the episode closes out with a track from UK grindcore band Cage, the song is entitled “Trapped in Paradise” and is inspired by this movie. It’s loud and obnoxious and oh-so-much better than this movie! The Farsighted is also on Twitter and Facebook too, so join the discussion. We’ll see you next month with Wild at Heart, a great excuse to dive into some David Lynch and revisit young Nicky, who we encountered in episode 1 of the podcast.

CAGEMATCH, Episode 4: Spoiler Alert – MANDY is Pretty Boring
It has been far too long since we dropped a new episode, but we’re back and we’re on a schedule now. Despite dropping this one on December 1st, we consider this our November episode, so expect ANOTHER episode in a few weeks and a steady schedule of one a month to follow! Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius? An utter piece of silver screen trash? Or somewhere in between? After a failed attempt at recording a spooky season episode on Vampire’s Kiss, we returned to record a Thanksgiving-ish time episode on a film neither of us was all that thankful for. Tune in to find out why neither of us really care much for Mandy and why both of us really enjoys the eggnog/coffee concoction Justin whipped up. We hope you enjoy the podcast… even if you don’t enjoy Nic Cage! SPECIAL THANKS to The O’Mulligans for allowing us to use their fantastic track “Cage Rage” as our new official theme song! We’ll see you next month with Trapped in Paradise, a holiday treat that neither Merder nor Justin has seen before (well Justin may have have seen it, but doesn’t remember because he’s old).
