Our Editor's Take

Sports History This Week is a podcast exploring significant moments in sports history. Sometimes, the program even features interviews with the athletes involved in the events. Those with an interest in both of these topics are likely to find something to enjoy here. This podcast is an official production of The History Channel.

The host of Sports History This Week is Kaelen Jones. He has been a professional sportswriter and commentator for over a decade. Jones' writing has been a part of such notable publications as Sports Illustrated, SB Nation, and 247 Sports. His primary areas of focus are the NFL and the MLB. In addition to his hosting duties for this podcast, Jones is also a staff writer at The Messenger.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is how many different types of sports it reports on. Some of these sports, and the stories behind them, are well known. Wayne Gretzky's trade from Edmonton to Los Angeles was a seismic change at the time. Tiger Woods becoming the youngest-ever winner of the Masters Tournament received significant press. Both of these incidents receive a thorough examination on Sports History This Week.

Just as interesting are the sports that haven't received the same attention as others. The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is not well-known outside of the motorsports community. It is one of the world's most dangerous races, and many competitors have died during it. This is one of the compelling stories listeners will likely learn about for the first time on the podcast.

Sports History This Week is a thorough exploration of various sports stories. While the podcast ended in August 2023, the entire archive of episodes is still available for listeners.
