Step 1: Pick a date and time to do your weekly planning routine.
Step 2: If you’re married, go grab your spouse and complete the first few steps together. This ensures everyone is one the same page.
Step 3: Grab your preferred calendar/planner. This could be your iPhone, google calendar, pen and paper planner, or a combination.
Step 4: Identify the non-negotiables. List out the appointments and meetings that have to be done at a specific time and/or place.
Step 5: Identify your weekly goals. Set 2-3 goals for the week by asking yourself 1) What are my priorities this week? and 2) What can I realistically accomplish?
Step 6: Break down your weekly goals into bite-sized, manageable tasks.
Step 7: Pull everything together by scheduling your weekly goal tasks (identified in Step 6) around the non-negotiables you identified in Step 4).
Remember:
1. Some white space in your calendar is okay! Don’t overbook yourself. Something will inevitably come up. You will be able to take it on with elegance and ease if you allow for some breathing room in your calendar.
2. Include self-care in the non-negotiables. You can’t be the best employee, mom, wife, friend if you don’t care for yourself. Schedule those morning routines, workouts, coffee dates, and bubble baths!
3. Elevate this exercise by upgrading it with a beautiful planner and pens. Set the mood by lighting a candle, turning on your favorite music and grabbing a cup of coffee or glass of wine. This way you can make weekly planning fun and beautiful.
