Coaching Uncovered Podcast

Emily Hodge

A podcast for and about coaches as well as those looking for and working with a coach;

I uncover the questions many coaches are asking behind closed doors - about themselves and the coaching industry, as well as questions prospective and current coachees are thinking but are wary to voice.

So that we can improve standards across the coaching industry for its reputation, and to continue to have impact well into the 22nd century.

Episode 22: Launching with Ease and Less Formality - with Katy Murray
In this episode I talk to Leadership Coach for change makers Katy Murray about launching with more ease and a little bit less formality.We dive into the interview by discussing the tendencies for women to dive into changing the world without bearing in mind whether or not that is actually sustainable. We then move on to talking about how Katy’s methods for coaching are different when she is speaking to people within an organisation vs. individuals outside of a fixed system and the different factors that impact her work here.We then get into the meat of the episode where Katy shares her personal approach to launching her Mastermind Program ‘Change Making Women’ and how important the personal touch is to her. We touch on the importance of launching feeling easeful (which is NOT the same easy) and making sure that we are comfortable with what we’re doing.Katy then shares one of her favourite power practices: Setting intentions. To learn exactly how Katy sets her intentions, listen to the full episode. Here are the 3 questions:How do I want to feel today?How do I want to show up today?What’s one thing I want to progress today?To learn more about Katy and her work, check out the links below and if you enjoyed this episode let me know by leaving a review or a comment on social media.LINKS:To receive thought-provoking content straight into your inbox, join my email list here:http://bit.ly/gentlebusinesssuccess To find me on Instagram follow me here:https://www.instagram.com/gentle_life_mindful_businessKaty Murray coaches change makers to step up without burning out.Find Katy on Linked In and Instagram.Sign Up for Katy’s newsletter Catalyst Notes here.If you lead DEI work in your organisation sign up for Inclusion Essentials here.Find out about Katy’s mastermind Change Making Women here. Episode 18: Creating or buying an online course - the different types

Episode 18: Creating or buying an online course - the different types
In this episode I’m going to discuss the differences between online courses. In particular, I go in depth on what each of them offers and help you choose the one that benefits the growth of your business the most. But another equally important aspect during this process is the transparency that we as coaches must provide to our clients. We need to give a clear picture about what our online programs offer and what works best for both when creating these courses. There are different levels of them which include:Totally passive - no interaction, downloadable self paced modules / or even 'just' e-book style, no live guidance. Email help for administration perhaps not your answers and developmentPassive = not the income but how much interaction with host and or their team you getNext level = same as above but with email support attachedNext level = less passive = same as above but with FB group for live questions to be answered - either by an admin or sometimes live by the host themselves, either as Q+A style in a post or LIVE in the group on a fixed day and time, provides accountability and site of other course membersMoving onto more interactive with host / their team = modules to complete, self paced OR tapered to the live sessions, Q+A around the modules and live sessions - teaching or supportSame as above with all the elements but ALSO includes coaching sessions which are different to Q+A because they're developmental, growth opportunities, reflectiveMost interactive (Mastermind) = same as previous but with 121 elements includedLINKSTo receive thought-provoking content straight into your inbox, join my email list here:http://bit.ly/gentlebusinesssuccess To find me on Instagram follow me here:https://www.instagram.com/gentle_life_mindful_businessThe link to my live video on "Reasons why people would rather have 121 coaching support":https://www.instagram.com/tv/CL4U5twDdWz/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Hosted on Acast. Episode 11: When your coaching business isn’t what you thought it would be, with Liz Peel-Yates
In this episode Liz and I got the chance to talk about our experiences in the coaching industry. We discuss how she started out as a coach and being coached. Liz shares how she initially decided to become a lawyer but then realised it was not what she wanted to do and how she learned how to let go. As a cancer survivor, she explains how the illness shifted her perspective on her career and life as a whole. At this point she is having a much needed break after being in a challenging mental and physical state, but she is very optimistic for the future and everyone dealing with the same issues in the industry. By sharing her struggles as well as the insecurities she once had, Liz manages to give you a sense of freedom and a major boost of confidence to do what you enjoy most.If you've enjoyed this episode, join me for my free live series starting 23rd Feb to help your coaching business thrive with ease and profit in 2021https://www.facebook.com/groups/expertcoachingwitheaseandprofitLINKSTo receive thought-provoking content straight into your inbox, join my email list here:http://bit.ly/gentlebusinesssuccess To find me on Instagram follow me here:https://www.instagram.com/gentle_life_mindful_business You can find Liz on Instagram, Facebook and also her website:https://www.instagram.com/lizpeelyates/https://www.facebook.com/liz.peelyates https://lizpy.com/?fbclid=IwAR1eldgzpa8_sQzLO_982vTaaZCsECVqqNNKzqzoBOB7bh_Y5ZnCMjmjQCA   See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information Hosted on Acast. Episode 9: When poor coaching practices ruin it for everyone what should we do?

Episode 9: When poor coaching practices ruin it for everyone what should we do?
In this episode I discuss something that I’ve been seeing in the coaching industry for a while and it’s making me think deeply about how I coach, how I market, how I sell myself and what I offer - and how to do so in the most transparent and ethical way possible. This episode is inspired by an email I sent to my list just the other day that has generated a lot of conversations with you - so I know that I am not the only person who is affected by and reflecting on this.I first start by sharing the trigger for this episode. Something that has happened in our industry over the Summer and I genuinely open up about how this has made me feel about the industry as a whole. I then dive into my thoughts specifically around marketing and sales techniques that are so commonly used and how important it is for us to be more transparent about what we’re selling.Here I take a deep dive into my thoughts on coaching vs. mentoring vs. teaching and how we can be more accurate in labelling the transformation we are going to help our clients achieve - and HOW.I then finish off by questioning the ‘pyramid scheme’ of coaches coaching coaches - and if it really IS a pyramid scheme.If you’re a coach or you’re looking to hire a coach yourself, then you may find my thoughts on this interesting.
