In this edition, Dr. Shaw tackles some fascinating aspects of the education process.  She begins by contrasting teachers who teach a lot of "stuff" and who inherently include a lot of "fluff in the stuff," and there are teaches that ascribe to the philosophy that Dr. Shaw lived by and that is to teach less stuff, but went much deeper on the essentials of education.  She then introduces the concept of Guided Practice which is a type of learning where there is less independence for the child and more guidance.   With less independence, there is less of a chance that the child will learn something incorrectly, and Dr. Shaw provides a great illustrative example of guided practice.  She then moves the discussion into methods for self-learning in which one doesn't accept their own old stories or habits.  You can do that by carefully observing yourself and then you can model your own advancement by noting it for your child.
