Definition: the period of darkness in each twenty-four hours; the time from sunset to sunrise
Scripture:
Genesis 1: 14-16 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.  God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
Psalm 91:4-6 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, or the plague that destroys at midday.
Psalms 127:2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.
