Hello and Happy Mindful Monday!  On this week's episode of The Mindful Movement Show our guest, Jenna Crump, shares her story of growing up with a bipolar mom, living through divorce, getting married and divorced at a young age, and moving in with her best friends to create a village-style family structure.  The episode offers very clear and inspiring examples of how breath-to-movement exercise can help develop flexibility in all situations. We also go deep on the questions of what it means to raise resilient kids who are self-aware, practice kindness and compassion, and embrace their own uniqueness.  Jenna is the illustrator on our kids books, The Magnificent Blue Butterfly and Bodies of Water. She uses art and creative expression as an outlet and her talents are incredible. Greetings and Happy Mindful Monday! We are so excited to share another episode of The Mindful Movement Show with you this week. Episode nine features a dynamic conversation with our guest, Derek Jacobsma. In it, we discuss his journey of becoming, healing, growth and resilience. He vulnerably shares his story of turning pain into purpose and offers advice for those of you who might be struggling with identity crisis, illness or disease, or family issues. His journey is oner of navigating coming-out as a non-heterosexual man, being diagnosed with HIV, and leaving his comfortable corporate training position to start his own coaching practice. In the episode, Derek challenges you to develop greater self-awareness and set boundaries that enable you to flourish, grow, and thrive. In our conversation we go deep in explaining the role that shame, blame, and trying to fix others has in creating misery and unhappiness. We also discuss the ways in which mindfulness practice helps us attend to our feelings and emotions without fixation or attachment. Greetings Mindful and Fit Fam! This week we have Ignacio Evans on the show. "Iggy" is a PhD Candidate in Communication at the University of California at San Diego. He is also a father, national championship debater and debate coach, and a shining example of wisdom, resilience and perseverance we can all learn something from. His professional expertise is in advocacy, diversity leadership and public speaking. He is an expert at building curriculum to meet students where they are and help them level up their performance and knowledge. In this episode, we discuss his background and scholarship, specifically looking at his most recent presentation on black parenting and impossibility to explore the ways in which race implicates constructions of what it means to be a good or bad parent, and we dream about what it would mean to live in a world where everyone cared about black life with audacity and created moments and futures for and of black kids we care about. We also discuss gentle parenting and what it means to validate our kids' experiences and allow them to have their own voice, how to confront generational trauma, and so much more.  We highly encourage you to tune in or share this episode with anyone who desires to better understand how race operates in parenting.
